RM Classic

Monobloc cup

Description

The RM Classic is a clinically proven, uncemented monoblock acetabular cup system. 1, 2 The implant with a coating of pure titanium particles has been implanted worldwide since 1983 and demonstrates very good clinical results with a survival rate for aseptic loosening of 94.4% after 20 years. 1

Thanks to the various designs, from the full-profile cup, the bevelled cup and the revision cup, a wide spectrum of customer needs and indications can be addressed.

The primary stability of the RM Classic cup is achieved by the fixation of 2 anchoring pegs in the acetabular bone. 3 Primary stability can be further enhanced with the use of additional screws. 3

The coating comprises a thin layer of non-correlating, individually anchored titanium particles that have no structural stiffness between them. 4 This and the elasticity of the UHMWPE material, which is very similar to human cancellous bone, ensure that the load transfer and the biomechanical behaviour of the cup remain physiological after the implantation, with the aim of preventing stress shielding. 5

Benefit

  • Elasticity of the implant similar to bone to preserve bone over the long term 5
  • No risk of backside PE wear 1, 5
  • Three different versions can be implanted with only one instrument set (standard/bevelled/revision)
  • Primary stability is achieved through anchoring pegs and additional screw fixation 3
  • Secondary stability is achieved with the microstructure of the titanium particle coating of the cup 1, 2
