About 10 % of all orthopaedic patients have a potential for allergic reactions or are considered to be allergic to Nickel, Cobalt or Chromium.
balanSys® Titanium Niobium Nitride (TiNbN) coated implants are designed for patients with a hypersensitivity to the materials used for orthopaedic implants such as Nickel, Cobalt or Chromium.
The coating:
The special coating process applied is called Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), a widely accepted coating process in the orthopaedic industry. The PVD process features the deposition of a wear protective TiNbN layer on the implant which prevents the metal-ion release into the patient.
This coating process guarantees the very high adhesive strength of the coating maintaining the excellent biomechanical functionality and biocompatibility of the balanSys® implants.
The coating thickness of 4,5 μm demonstrates excellent hardness and surface topography which further reduces the wear of the PE Inlay. balanSys® TiNbN implants provide the same benefits to the patient as the clinically proven CoCrMo version: Balanced kinematics, maximum stability and durability – regardless of gender, stature or anatomy.
Available are cruciate ligament preserving as well as PS implants.
