CBC stem

CBC Stem

Uncemented hip stem with proximal force introduction and optimised rib design.

Principles of the biomechanical concept

The double tapered design converts the acting shearing forces into compression forces thus ensuring a reliable primary stability. The corundum blasted surface and the prism-shaped rib geometry promote the osteointegration of the implant.

The height of the individual ribs has been adapted to the expansion of the volume of cancellous bone in the proximal femur, especially in the area of the trochanter. This controls the proximal force introduction and avoids the risk of intraoperative fractures.

The distally extended central rib serves as «guide» and facilitates the correct positioning in the femur.

The benefits of the optimised 12/14-cone geometry

An optimal range of motion is a decisive factor of the long-term stability of the artificial hip joint. The optimised cone geometry persistently promotes this aim with the following benefits:

Increased range of motion
Reduced risk of impingement between the stem and the cup or bone
Reduced probability of postoperative dislocation

The CBC stem can be used without reservation with our
12/14 hip prosthesis heads

The stem versions

Available are a standard version of the CBC stem with a CCD angle of 145° and a lateral version with a CCD angle of 135°. Each version comes in thirteen sizes. The smaller sizes are available in increments of 1 mm and the larger sizes in increments of 1.25 mm or 2.5 mm.

The stem is forged of a titanium-aluminium-niobium alloy in accordance with the ISO 5832-11 standard.

Indications

Possible indications for the CBC stem:

Primary hip arthroplasty
Fractures of the femoral neck
Revisions in cases in which the quality of the bone guarantees the required primary stability
