Since its market introduction this unique cup has proven its clinical reliability in more than 300'000 implantations all over the world. Slight modifications in design and additional outer coating and articulation options have enhanced the use of this philosophy in the last years.
Published and ongoing clinical follow-up results prove its effectiveness and its excellent survival rate
(94,4 % after 20 years1).

The RM Classic Cup is an uncemented, acetabular monoblock cup made of UHMW-PE, available with two different coatings:
- Coating of pure titanium powder
(TiCP according to ISO 5832-2) - Coating of HA granules
(according to ASTM F 1185)
Different designs, from full profile and bevelled to revision versions, cover a wide range of indications and patient requirements.
The primary stability of the acetabular cups relies on the press-fit effect produced when the two pegs on the cup are driven into the slightly displaced peg holes in the acetabulum. (The two peg holes drilled with the drill guide are placed at 30° to the cup's centreline, but the pegs on the cup are located at 25°.)
The two pegs position the cup and stabilise it against the rotational forces. If required, additional screws may be inserted to enhance the primary stability.
The RM Classic Cup allows a very harmonious load transfer from the bone to the implant, because of the low and well-adapted modulus of elasticity of the cup's material. The risk of a fibrous tissue interposition is minimal and the different coating options promote osseointegration.

Full profile cup
This cup is particularly suited for deep acetabula in primary interventions and in revision cases. The slope of 45 degrees guarantees the anatomically correct positioning of the cup. The full profile cup is available in external diameters of 50 to 60 mm in 2 mm increments for 32 mm articulations.
Bevelled cup
The inclination of 30° increases the contact surface between head and cup by 23 %, assures an improved pressure distribution on the polyethylene and reduces the luxation risk.
The bevelled cup is available in external diameters of 46 to 62 mm in 2 mm increments for 28 mm articulations and 50 to 68 mm for 32 mm articulations.
Revision cup
The revision cup is appropriate for primary operations with extensive bone defects and revision cases. Cancellous bone screws can be used to further improve fixation of the cup.
The revision cup is available in external diameters of 60 to 68 mm in 2 mm increments for 32 mm articulations.
Indications
The use of the RM Classic Cup is indicated in all cases in which the quality and morphology of the bone ensure a safe and lasting primary mechanical stability.
