Features & Benefits
Mathys Ltd Bettlach and the bone graft substitutes –
The consistent innovation management of Mathys Ltd Bettlach has also widely influenced the field of biomaterials. Mathys Ltd Bettlach, for example, is one of the pioneers worldwide in the research and development of synthetic bone graft substitutes (cyclOS®, Ceros®).
Mathys bone graft substitutes made of hydroxyapatite were introduced in 1980 followed in 1982 by those made of beta-tricalcium phosphate. Since the beginning of their clinical application in orthopaedic, trauma, spinal and dental surgery, numerous literature has been published underlining the success of their application1–12. The clinical results demonstrate an excellent biocompatibility as well as the bony integration and remodelling qualities of cyclOS® and Ceros®.
Features & Benefits
cyclOS® / Ceros® implants are fully synthetic bone graft substitutes made of pure beta-tricalcium phosphate. With its porous and interconnected structure the material acts as an optimised osteoconductive scaffold facilitating new bone formation.
cyclOS® / Ceros® products shall be used as bone void filler and augmentation material in regions requiring cancellous rather than cortical bone in non load-bearing indications. This includes the filling of bone defects and reconstitution of resected or damaged bone areas.
