PIONERO
Ya en la década de 1970, Robert Mathys (padre) perseguía la idea pionera de desarrollar implantes monobloque isoelásticos1. Esta idea en combinación con el «pressfit» ecuatorial 2,3, descrito por el Prof. Erwin Morscher, y la opción tribológica de un polietileno altamente reticulado enriquecido con vitamina E (VEPE)4 dio lugar al exclusivo cotilo RM Pressfit vitamys.

PROBADO
La filosofía fundamental acreditada a lo largo de muchos años y basada en la ley de Wolff1,5 convence con unos resultados clínicos sobresalientes6–10 y unos datos de los registros internacionales excelentes11–15.

ISOELÁSTICO
El cotilo RM Pressfit vitamys posee la misma elasticidad que el hueso circundante16, lo que influye positivamente sobre el comportamiento de stress shielding (osteoporosis proximal por transferencia de cargas)17,25,26.

PRESERVACIÓN ÓSEA
La combinación del polietileno vitamys isoelástico y resistente al desgaste (VEPE)4 con un espesor de pared máximo17–19 y un recubrimiento con partículas de titanio reduce el riesgo de osteólisis4,7,20–23 y conserva el hueso circundante a largo plazo10,24–27.

EFICIENTE
Los sencillos instrumentos típicos de Mathys favorecen un flujo de trabajo eficiente. Además, el diseño monobloque del cotilo RM Pressfit vitamys permite un inventario de implantes mínimo a pesar de la amplia gama de tamaños.
