AltiVate® Reverse Shoulder system and EMPOWR Knee system enhance the Mathys portfolio

The Swiss prothesis expert is expanding its portfolio to include the AltiVate Reverse Shoulder and the EMPOWR Knee joint replacement systems, which will be available from May 1, 2022.

The AltiVate Reverse Shoulder: helping patients and clinicians reach higher

Mathys is proud to be launching the Altivate Small Shell stem as an extension to the AtiVate Reverse Shoulder system. This addition enhances the AltiVate Reverse® system to have more  options to meet the needs of patients across a wide spectrum of humeral anatomies. The AltiVate Reverse combines enhanced fixation technologies and precision instrumentation to achieve an exceptional fit and help restore patient mobility. The AltiVate Reverse Shoulder builds on the clinical success of DJO’s RSP implant – the first reverse shoulder implant to successfully incorporate a lateralised centre of rotation (COR). The stem design is based on CT scan studies that determined the optimal shell-to-stem position and the best possible anatomical fit.

The AltiVate Reverse Shoulder features a humeral neck-shaft angle of 135°, which has been shown to reduce inferior scapular notching, resulting in improved clinical outcomes. With a total of seven glenosphere sizes, maximum COR compatibility is achieved. The AltiVate Reverse Shoulder system enhances short-term and long-term fixation on both the glenoid and humeral sides, thanks to the stable initial fixation and conditions that foster bony ingrowth. A variety of intraoperative options are offered, meaning it can be adapted to complex anatomies and deliver the best possible results for both patients and clinicians.
